I was 14 years into a supply chain career — operations, logistics, senior leadership roles across Fortune 100 companies — and I'd earned 14 promotions along the way. I knew how the game worked because I'd been playing it successfully for over a decade.
But I also sat in the rooms where the decisions got made. And I watched talented, hardworking people get passed over — not because they weren't ready, but because they were invisible in the ways that mattered. Nobody knew their name when it counted. Nobody could articulate their impact in the room. They'd been playing the performance game when the promotion process ran on an entirely different set of rules.
